A wee story about our family business

As I worked as a stalker/gamekeeper since leaving school at the age of 16, it had been a lifelong ambition of mine to introduce and sell wild venison and game, to give everyone the opportunity to taste this lovely lean meat. It was a bit daunting starting on a new adventure when things were a bit unsettled at the time. But, I had a dream to fulfil, so with hard work, hope and a belief in myself, We set out to make the dream a successful reality.

My partner and I originally named our business “Bennachie Burgers” but soon realised, this name did not express the complete nature of our business. My sister came up with our current name “A Taste of the Wild”, which was just perfect. Originally I made our Venison burgers from our home on the west coast, but just couldn’t keep up with all the new orders. So on returning to Aberdeen, we were successfully granted a council licence to make our tasty burgers, delicious meatballs & mince etc. Nothing was going to stop us now. A taste of the wild was born!

 Over the years we have been a pleasure to meet many lovely people while doing various fairs & shows, who are now regular customers and in turn introduced our wild venison & game to their family and friends.

Wild Scottish Venison is a tasty, first-class lean meat with no cholesterol,no saturated fats, but is very high in protein which can be enjoyed for any occasion such as, evening Venison burgers for your wedding buffet, Birthday celebrations, public events or if you are simply cooking a nice family meal or BBQ using something different.

Gone are the days of Venison being enjoyed only by Kings & Queens. As it is now affordable we can all have a taste of luxury & with our help, can have it delivered to your door. As my son says “Everything’s deer, but the price” he usually gets a chuckle.

All our produce is 100% hand made, sometimes getting a wee hand from the family both young & old with packing & labelling. We even have a Grampian chef of the year winner Richie Gavryluk in the family, an inspiration for new recipes.
